POSTKORT FRA TYSKLAND
2025
A solo journey through the mountains of southern Germany – just me, my camera, and a backpack full of hiking and climbing gear. With time off work, but everyone I care about still working, I decided to try something new: a trip alone. For the first time, I filmed myself as I went, framing each shot like a postcard sent home to friends, family, and my partner. It was a beautiful and meaningful experience — filled with silence, movement, and moments I wanted to hold onto.
I left for Berchtesgaden early on a Sunday morning and arrived late that evening. The next day, I set out on a combined hike and via ferrata to the summit of Hochtron – a demanding 15.5 km route with 1,250 meters of elevation gain and descent. My legs were destroyed afterwards.
The following day, I explored Königssee by boat, hiked up to the waterfall above Obersee, then continued across to St. Bartholomew’s Church on a route that turned out to be tougher than expected — but just as rewarding. Another 15 km day, with 650 meters of elevation.
On day three, I climbed another via ferrata to the summit of Grünstein, with a stunning view of the Watzmann. 7.5 km and 740 meters up and down. That afternoon, I drove north to Frankenjura, where I found a quiet parking spot for the night.
The next day I went top rope solo climbing at two crags with easy top access. I anchored myself to trees, rappelled down, and fixed a static rope to climb safely on my own. On the final day, I began the drive back toward Denmark, making a stop to do a bit of bouldering with the crashpads I’d brought along.
When it started to rain, it felt like the perfect, natural ending to a week of movement, effort, and solitude.
